details are sketchy because he only speaks Spanish. I did not know Spanish was a dead language. he is in the South Pacific... Ebon Atoll... they speak a Malayo-Polynesian language there... sounds like a very small island with limited resources... i am assuming there are not a people of world travelers... but i could be wrong...
