Clysdales are wonderful as are Percherons

Another breed, not as flashy but with an important role are the Old Guard horses of Arlington National Cemetery.

If anyone is at Arlington, you can stop by their stables....the entrance is into Ft Meyers, near the back of Arlington. It's a bit fussy, these days, to get through the guard at the gate....but if you tell him you're there to see the stable....they'll let you through. The caregivers are so nice to talk with. If you have never seen a Full Honors Funeral ...it's a life-changing experience.

They have a very rigorous program to adopt a retiring caisson horse.

I don’t think the Caisson Horses are a particular breed - probably matched more for color than anything else. They seem to be a mix of various saddle horses with some draft blood. Just looking at their photos, seems like they have a lot of Morgan types (stocky but not tall). Unless all the riders are fairly small men, those are not your big draft or hunter types.

I caught Clinton Anderson’s training segment on TV when he worked with the Guard horses...it was very good.
Thanks for the info on visiting the horses...the wife and I plan on a couple of weeks touring the Capital next year and will put it on our list of must-sees.
