Word For The Day, Tuesday January 28, 2014
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
stagiaire
-n, French
1. trainee
2. intern
3. pharmacist's assistant
4. common term for a cook or chef working for free at a restaurant.
cansado, -da
\kahn-SAH-doh, -dah\ adj : tired, tiresome
Ella generalmente está cansada cuando llega a casa.
Shes usually tired when she gets home.
Yes, he’s going to double down on progressive idiocy. Which should insure a clear smackdown in the elections in November.
Unless the GOP commits immigration suicide.
Not generically speaking-I don’t use a translator unless I need to use proper Spanish...
I’m going to do all I can to defuse that idiocy-there are lots of Texans like me-from very old American hispanic families around here who have availed ourselves of Ted Cruz’s website and let it be known we don’t want illegals, period...
I’m not sure what you mean. I thought you matched the gender of adjectives to the gender of the noun you are modifying.
I don’t always think of that in casual conversation-Spanish is not my first language, and just the dialect spoken here at that.
Lmao.
I had that exact conversation yesterday, in exactly those terms....
Roflmao. I love camping..
You are grammatically correct, soother. Native spanish speakers make plenty of errors in Spanish grammar classes ditto Anglos in English.
All this time I thought Spanish was your first language.
What cartoon was that? Quick draw McGraw or was it oggie doggie and doggy daddy?
Snagglepuss
I like the idea of camping but not the implementation
Forgot all about that Hanna barbera character
We went out with friends on Sat PM. The couple are both teachers and were saying how when their 4 kids were young they took a camper across the country for 6 weeks one summer. Xshub said had that been us there would have been 4 murders and a suicide! LOL! They haven’t been in years and are excited bc they’re planning to do it again over spring break. We will pass!
A big RV is like that is the only way I would do it - I like indoor plumbing and refrigerators
Youse guys up north are permitted to giggle gently. 8<)
Atlanta drivers can’t even leave downtown if the area gets 1-1/2 inch of snow between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Commutes are taking 4 hours just to get to the (already jammed) highways.
Hartsfield airport (ATL) is now closed -> That shuts down air traffic on the east coast and all of the Gulf Coast.
Yeppers - The region is stagiaired - can’t fly nowhere no how.
My idea of a vacation is the ocean. If I don’t see it every few years I feel claustrophobic, like I am trapped inland. Give me a nice vacation home or luxury hotel with an amazing view.
You are being facetious...
