I have 2 phones, 2 tablets,2 laptops, and a printer running off a 20 mps broadband WiFi . They all work fine through my home from a Uverse gateway. The only problem device was a Sony Blue-ray player which I had to hard wire

Whatever floats your boat. However, you should consider the security issue.

Most new blu ray players have wireless capability built in now.

I believe that wireless is now very good, but wired hasn’t stood still either. Gigabit Ethernet chips are amazingly inexpensive. There is a place for both.

I have a mix of wired and wireless; I has big problems with wireless until I swapped out my wireless “cheapo” router with an Asus and cranked the power to the max (there is a setting for this). It stopped problems dead cold. I regularly stream video wirelessly, and every problem that I’ve had was traced back to the providers themselves.

What I don’t like about wireless is that I am very suspicious of the “standards” on security. The earlier ones have been cracked (and a surprising number of people still use these). I’m sure that they all have been cracked; it’s just a matter of time until that capability is openly available.
