In pursuit of a dangerous black male killer, Los Angeles Police Department officers mistook two Latina woman for the suspect and fired one hundred shots.
Then, Torrance Officer Brian McGee thought he saw the suspects vehicle and rammed into it at full speed, nearly killing the innocent driver, David Perdue, a white man. McGee also fired three shots at Perdue.
But L.A. County District Attorney Jackie Lacey has decided not to press charges against McGee, since his error was a reasonable mistake.

Martial Law was not declared and throwing around misinformation is a waste of time.
That’s the whole point. It was chaotic but no Martial Law.
.
A distinction without a difference.
They used military force against citizens prohibiting movement of all citizens, searching their homes, forcing them from their homes and threatening deadly force.
I don't think so.
Those are evidence tags, and it appears they had not got to the passenger side of the vehicle yet. Also the images were taken from different angles and different times.
"Rousting people from their homes, ordering them not to look out their windows and pointing a firearm at a citizen in his own home will suffice until the real deal comes along."
This was not panic. This was out of control men who wanted to kill someone. Anyone, anywhere. Anytime.
I said panic because they were out of control. Either way a very very poor way to conduct police work.
A quick glance at the calendar tells me we should be beyond the "Well...y'all look alike to me" excuse by now, even in LA.
Guess not.
Agreed. They might not have “declared” martial law, but if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck and looks like a duck, a reasonable and prudent person could not be faulted for calling it a duck. Primarily, because it’s a duck.
Yes, Martial Law.
Martial law doesn't have to be called "martial law" to actually, legally be martial law.
That IS the law on martial law.
Why not? they got away with it in the Dorner incident. They not only got away with it, they had their defenders on this forum.
Ping
Because he could.
So, it was a reasonable mistake that without any attempt to apprehend a fugitive, the LAPD failed at their attempted execution. Well, they didn’t fail at their execution of the unarmed corvette driver after their high speed chase. They’ll get away with that too. Police are in danger of becoming the enemy if they don’t tone this down.
Mears ~ Why on earth would he shoot you?
Because he felt threatened.
At least he'd say that at the inquest.
And he'd walk.
Thie police ordered the citizens to stay inside their homes and not go outside then they went house to house, door to door ordering the occupants to come out with their hands above their heads at the point of a gun.
Yes and all because one guy was threatening the police dept. They held their press conference huddled in a parking garage. Pathetic.
Do you really think a declaration of Martial Law would be made given the way things are being done in different areas? I understand your point, but I understand what the other poster is saying as well. I think if or when Martial Law is used it likely will not be declared it will just happen...
It seems the pop. distribution you provided is close enough to make your point. So instead I’ll submit 120+
not quite....
to gain access to mensa membership, you have to be in the 98th percentile...
i took the test and was only in the 97th percentile..
IQ = 132
Don’t know about where you live but here that would just draw the attention of cops and most likely add REAL ones.
