Keep her away from the Elks lodge, she might be disappointed.

:p

Good movie, no doubt - but few are as good as TCM's prime afternoon show today, the haunting and mystical Portrait of Jenny - with a lovely score from the works of Debussy, striking cinematography, and Ethel Barrymore's smashing Miss Spivvey - you will believe that life is timeless.....

Glad to see the raters at TCM are giving it a well-deserved four stars....

I thought i would share some videos i feel are worth watching. Note that this does not mean i sanction all that such may contain, but they are clean and edifying. Finding free and legal videos outside preaching (which many on YouTube are not, but i trust these are) is not easy.

Very good message: Paul Washer, “How Much Do You Know God?” - YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdArdf-Nm (others on sidebar)

And Faith like Potatoes is a wonderful movie to watch, esp. when you are too tired to do much else, of a story of real faith. Even though the source is TBN, which is a mixed bag, most of it flighty, etc. or fundraising in the name of faith. http://www.itbn.org/index/detail/lib/Networks/sublib/TBN/ec/1pNW8wMzoZPamWuHNvmRzOK5nJoY8k6k

And the famous The Cross and the Switchblade http://www.itbn.org/index/detail/lib/Networks/sublib/TBN/ec/JmMHQzMzoQuDLIvE-1X5Knsrdxm35Fkr

And Greater Love, a sweet “romantic drama about the reuniting of two separated “soul mates” and the obstacles they must overcome in order to be together again: “ http://www.itbn.org/index/detail/lib/Networks/sublib/TBN/ec/ZrOGcwMzrK910J_1avdqr52Xp59UyF83

And here is the inspiring The Keith Green Story (click “not now” on the pop up box) http://gnli.christianpost.com/video/the-keith-green-story-full-2080

Similar is the Venture in Faith, story of Chuck Smith of Calvary Chapel:

And a short one, The Bridge, a son must sacrifice his son to save others: http://www.itbn.org/index/detail/lib/Networks/sublib/TBN/ec/hqaHd5Mjr9jlPE71fpw10KBz7b1YkIrN

In the have not seen it yet category, First Fruits: The Moravians pioneered a mission movement characterized by extraordinary commitment. http://www.itbn.org/index/detail/lib/Networks/sublib/TBN/ec/dmNmcwMzojIIYKL1UJupyYoBBX4SbTMV

And the best Pentecostal preacher i know of:
Bert Clendennen, “Soldiers:” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8Aks8izW2w

Thanks - got the DVD last year, but it’s still fun to watch on TCM, with their introductions and summations after the show - for instance, yesterday we heard that the producer of the movie was in love with the Jennifer Jones who starred in it and specifically hired Joseph Cotton to star opposite her because he knew Cotton had been happily married for fifteen years and thought he wasn’t likely to make a play for Jones during shooting - sort of spoiled the romantic glow of the film, but interesting nevertheless.....

Thanks for the background. Maybe I’ll remember it by the time the DVD turns up.
