I don’t think Rush puts in the effort he used to and the show has suffered a good bit for it. His analysis is still on point, but the bits that made the show for me were the parodies on feminists, Jocelyn Elders (those were classic), the Clintons, etc etc.

For such a small staff back in the day, they beat the pants of SNL for pure laughs. I really miss the updates and the show has not been the same since those stopped. Nothing needles the left like making fun of them..... nothing. His show needs humor and it would not take too many hires to go back to the classic parodies he pulled in the late 80’s through the 90’s.

In the early days Rush had not one but four Snerdleys:

Bo Snerdly
Mario Snerdly
Mervin Snerdly
Chin-yang Snerdly

I started listening in 1990 when Rush was making fun of D.C. `homeless advocate’ Mitch Snyder, who was apparently driven to suicide by Limbaugh’s lampooning.

Miss the updates & the update themes (”Ain’t Got No Home”). Rush used to have more time for what he called “the lighthearted stuff”. Oh, well.

My favorite bit was always the Gorbasm, his Gorbachev update that he gave while The Imperial March from The Empire Strikes Back played in the background:
