Snakes are fine and necessary. Usually it is jsut the stupid people. Snake don't hunt humans but do hunt all the nasty small mammals humans hate. Eliminating snakes just makes the world safer for the nasties we don't like and ruin tons of human food.
For every snake killed by a human that person should need to klll and eat (or burn) 5 to 10 rats and mice a year. See when a snake kills it it also removes it from our space totally. So don't be stupid and kill snakes, stay away from them.
You can be promised that a snake is not hunting you down for food. In fact, they try to avoid humans. They are afraid of us.

We were surrounded by king, gopher, garter and rattlesnakes --lots of them. Dad wouldn't kill a rattler unless it was close to the house and woe be to anyone who killed a king or gopher snake because dad was AT WAR with gophers and other critters who tore up his garden.
We had a healthy respect for snakes -- and fear of rattlers.

Some snakes are territorial and will seek you to attack you in their “space”. When that space happens to be a porch where one steps out of the house, they become targets of proper removal.
