Saw a bunch of Easter stuff in Hobby Lobby the other day.
I understand it better in craft stores. Crafters need time to create/make stuff. I don’t know why anyone would want to buy Easter candy months ahead of time - wouldn’t it go stale? Or perhaps they just want to munch on Easter candy for a couple of months!
It's a little different at Hobby Lobby and Michael's because they are oriented toward selling equipment and supplies for crafts. If you're going to make some kind of holiday decoration, as many of us do, you need to be starting several months before the holiday. The displays put us in the mood to start on making stuff.
But a display of holiday candy several months before a holiday is DISGUSTING. Makes you realize that either (a) the candy is going to be rotten by the time the holiday arrives, or (b) it's full of whatever hideous toxic chemicals keep it from rotting in the intervening four or five months. In either case, Yuck.
