Yes there are. There is one book I read some years ago - I can't remember the exact title or author at the moment. It recounted the Southern Campaigns in the Revolutionary War at some length. Before reading that book, all I knew about the war in the South was the Swamp Fox, and that from the (Disney) movie.

A heavy prejudice abides in much of the available literature in favor of the North's role in the Revolution.

I, as much as anyone else, respect the efforts of our ancestors in the North, but a critical role was played by our forebears in the South. The victory at Cowpens and its aftemath, IMHO, secured the road to Yorktown.

I'll try to get back to you with the title and author of that book, FRiend.

America demands Justice for the Fallen of Benghazi!

O stranger, tell the Lacedaemonians that we lie here, obedient to their command.

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

The Battle of Kings Mountain, which was the actual turning point in the South during the American Revolution due to the killing of Ferguson and his men. And the involvement of the “Over the Mountian Men” who walked hundreds of miles to help the soldiers secure safety for their families in the South, without them it would not have been possible.

Several books have been written about the Battle of Kings Mountain, and I have several ancestors who fought there, soldiers, and over the mountain men. That may have been the ultimate test of fortitude for the Southerners who were immigrants/descendants, those who came from Ireland, Scotland, Netherlands, and Spain and who escaped Europe during the Crusades to find hope in a New World.

Some of the best studies are about North Carolina and what happened here from the beginning until now, and how important those people and events were and still are. That’s not to dimish any other places or people, but significant things went unnoticed for a long time. For example: Virginia Dare and the first colony. Black Beard the Pirate. The Wright Brothers First Flight...etc
