Guns dont kill people, popcorn kills people. Or maybe its texting. Or just being in the wrong place at the wrong time with some fool who thinks he needs to take a gun to the movies.

That's amazing. But I guess there's a need at every large facilty, and DisneyLand is as big as a small city.
Ours is fully legally covered under NDAA and secret FISA court written laws.
They have 6 jail cells behind a hidden door where people are detained until the Anaheim police arrive to take them away.

"He is very religious, the attorney said...Reeves and his wife have been regulars at the red-brick First Baptist Church in Dade City, where they served as greeters and are active in a Bible study."
For any who haven't seen it, one of Duvall's masterpieces.
People do criminal acts in my yard all the time, letting their dogs off leash to crap on my grass, and not picking it up. That's two county violations right there, and sometimes the dog owners trespass by stepping on my property with the dog, as well. That's three criminal acts. So, according to you, I have the right to shoot them? Three times, maybe?
You're not armed, are you? Is that popcorn in your hands?
More than that -- don't forget the dog.
I think it’s very likely that the thrown popcorn did not cause the shooter to “ fear for his life or great bodily harm” but that it actually “pissed him off.”
Thank you for your link to the DailyMail article, which as usual has a great deal of detail and photos. From that article, here is another link many FReepers will want to know about:
Chads former colleagues at Sky Power Sports have set up a Facebook page to raise money for Nicole and Lexy. It can be seen at

The cop will be convicted as he should be.
The end.
Second that movie recommendation.
One man told a group of reporters that Reeves is a “Godly man” before walking away.
A television reporter trailed, microphone in hand. He had another question, but got no answer.
“How does a ‘Godly man,’” he asked, “pull a gun on someone in the theater and shoot him?”
This would explain why the guy might have been a bit testy and the shooter needed to look past his own narcissism.
This reminds me of the Zimmerman case. As facts come out, the open minded will migrate towards the actual likely truth of what happened there.
Still need more info...
This case illustrates perfectly the problem created by the Florida SYG law, to the extent that it overturns English Common Law (I confess to being a common law nut).
By granting the shooter a legal presumption of reasonableness, it imposes on the fact-finder (judge or jury) the impossible task of figuring out how this street beef started and who was most responsible for the consequences.
If a deadly force encounter starts with your door kicked in at 3am, it’s easy. If it starts in a parking lot with the decedent having pulled a knife, it’s still easy. Those are both classic, straightforward self-defense.
But when it starts on the street or in a public place between complete strangers, “standing your ground” can be interpreted in a number of ways. If “standing your ground” escalates a confrontation to the point that deadly force becomes legal, it’s unwise. And if “standing your ground” PROVOKES deadly force, such provocation being reasonably foreseeable under common law rules, it should not be a shield from prosecution.
I believe (Floridians correct me if I’m wrong) that the simple fact of Reeves telling the police that he felt endangered makes it a requirement that he not be arrested.
One wonders in this case why they couldn’t have just switched apartments.
Somebody throwing popcorn into another's face IS an assault. It's a crime.
Showing a firearm without justification is a crime just like throwing objects into somebody's face.
Why do you describe the ex-cop as standing during the attack? Is that in the evidence?
Others have suggested that the tickets were sold with assigned seating. Was that the case?
Why did the wife end up with a gunshot wound to her hand? What did she think was going to happen which caused her to attempt to physically restrain her husband?
Then call the police and report the crime -- and get laughed at.
It is also a crime to take the law into your own hands. A retired cop should know that.
Showing a firearm without justification is a crime just like throwing objects into somebody's face.
Ohhh so then it's better to shoot it then rather than just hold it??? Really!!!
Why do you describe the ex-cop as standing during the attack? Is that in the evidence?
I assume that he had to be in a standing position to take the gun out of his pocket -- unless he already had it out on his lap or in his hand.
Others have suggested that the tickets were sold with assigned seating. Was that the case?
Probably not in a theatre of 25 that holds 120+ in an afternoon matinee.
Why did the wife end up with a gunshot wound to her hand?
She might have seen the gun in the nutcase's hand and tried to protect her husband by trying to push it away while at the same time pulling him out of the way.
