I am ripping carpet out of the house and going back to the existing tile floor underneath (for Her).

Tile? Aren't there oak floors, or long leaf pine floors under that tile?

I stripped out carpet, the padding, linoleum, and tile, (yes, it was layers thick) all stuck down with black mastic to get to the oak floors in my house..Talk about scraping stuff off a couple of inches at a time..ugh.

I remember the original flooring getting torn out about 50 years ago, and replaced with plywood decking, so no, no oak subfloor. I'm leaving it at tile. The carpet was catching cat dander and Someone is allergic.
