[history]
Actor Russell Johnson, best known as "the professor" in the 1960s TV sitcom "Gilligan's Island," died Thursday, his agent said. Johnson was 89.
Johnson played the iconic role of Professor Roy Hinkley, whose scientific schemes to get the castaways rescued were always foiled by Gilligan's bumbling.

I really got a flashback to the Sixties there!
Now, I literally have not heard that song since probably 1967...seriously.
And as I read it, I wasn’t hearing what you wrote, I was hearing:
Theres a little hotel called The Shady Rest at the junction
PETTICOAT JUNCTION!
it is run by Kate come and be her guest at the Junction
PETTICOAT JUNCTION!
and theres Uncle Joe hes a movin kinda slow at the Junction.

Hahahahaha...talk about a door not opened for a long, long time!

Thanks for the funny pic. But how does it relate to Gilligan?

At the time “Jeanie’’ premiered there was no feminist movement. The first season premiered in 1964 in black and white because color tv didn't come out until '65. All the shows of that era were in black and white. "The Wild Wild West''(one of my favorites, along with "Combat'' also in b&w), ''Gilligan's Island'', "Gun Smoke'' "McHale's Navy'', so many of them.
