The terrible 2s came early for this bogus baby.
An animatronic infant wreaked havoc on the streets New York City for a viral marketing campaign that scared the hell out of some bystanders.
The “devil baby” — cruising around the streets in a remote control stroller — would lie in wait for an unsuspecting person to check on the child before pouncing, growling and sometimes even flipping the bird.

I guess I would lose my balance from the shock, and accidentally swing the contraption in an arc against the curb hard enough for it to be completely destroyed. “Oops” I’d say.

Reminds me of some of the stunts William Castle used to promote his movies. William Castle's contraptions were installed INSIDE the theater showing the movie. The patrons entered in knowing what they were going to get.
This "viral" marking is film exploitation in what is known as a publicity stunt. Stage an event in public to generate press.
Looks like it worked.
Then again journalists think they've done their job if they have spent the afternoon looking at youtube clips and posting what they saw.

At least this isn’t a NY Post report. Then I’d suspect collusion between News Corp’s Fox (the distributor) and their newspaper holdings.
ABCDisney and other “news” agencies engage in such shenanigans all the time.
