It’s complicated to retrieve stolen goods. Her property is in 2 places — police property room (closed on Mondays) and a Pawn Shop. You have to have appointments and letters, etc. issued by specific people and setting specific times. I’ve been working on this since August. Plus there is a cache of unsold goods from her estate sale that we need to collect. The person holding that is sick with the flu, and I don’t want to get anywhere near her. We’ll do that next week.
All of this stuff has to be boxed and shipped to Wisconsin, or placed in consignment shops here. It’s a lot of work.
In a word — don’t get burgled. The thief (a meth head) is already out on the street plying her trade to feed her habit. Thank God Mom wasn’t still living in her house when they broke in (the man got off scott free.) She could have been hurt, or killed.
Of course when I told her that the new owners of her house had put on a new roof and the place looks good, she says, “Oh, we probably should have hung on to it!”
Me: roll eyes!
The circus of the stolen goods sounds dangerous and insane-did this happen in a “city” of in a ‘burb?
