True. The U.S.A. is sadly lacking its heavy manufacturing base.

The next Pacific war will be fought with aircraft, drones, and satellites. There will be no more Tarawa's or Iwo Jima’s. The losses incurred in winning some volcanic outcropping are politically unacceptable today, and unnecessary.

What it will come down to is how fast can you replace drones and satellites lost in battle. Worry about the percentage of parts that come from your enemy that go into producing these items.

We (the good guys) do not produce enough computer chips and rare earth magnets to sustain losses to an enemy that denies us access to these parts.
