I went for a physical some 15 years ago, first one in a decade, and the doc found 'elevated' levels and recommended a couple of medications. Tried every type of 'diet' known to man: No change, no food allergies. Relented on meds. Lipitor did nothing for my levels. Tried another I can't recall: Nada. Crestor was the only one. Slowly, over time, I began having side effects (muscle cramps). Called the doc, had tests: No sign of liver issues. Another year later I began having circulatory problems (waking up in the middle of the night with 'noodle arm'). I also suddenly began having unexplained weight gain. One day I looked in the mirror and thought I looked a bit 'orange' and my eyes were sunken in their sockets. I quit Crestor.
Within a few years, ALL of the side effects have completely cleared up (muscle cramps, circulatory problems) save for the weight gain. Even my Mother noticed a change in my appearance later, with a return of a 'normal-looking' face. I'm also convinced the Crestor damaged my system. I now have to avoid processed foods of all types or I pack on a pound a day.
If you're subscribing to the fact that cholesterol is bad for you and don't mind poisoning your system for someone's gain (not you), keep taking it.
Otherwise, read this and maybe you'll find you can save some $$ and improve your health.
