Isn’t this a victory A-Rod? He’s only getting a little over a year suspension? He still has 3 years on his contract after that. Could he have done any better than this?

It seems to me the team has a good case against him if they want to break the full contract right now. He’s suspended because of his own behavior, the team didn’t put a gun against his head to make him juice. I’m pretty sure he’s unpaid for the suspension period, but I’m wondering what comes after.

The team’s attorneys know better than I.

The arbitrator reduced his suspension from 211 to 162 games. For a guy making $20M+/yr, a 49 game reduction in his suspension represents a substantial chunk of change.

A-Rod still has the option of taking his case to federal court, but judges rarely overrule arbitrators in such cases.
