"Hey, little girl, you don't have to hide nothin' no more You didn't do nothin' that hadn't been done before Little girl thought she wouldn't get caught, you see She thought she'd get away with goin' out on me, yeah Other girls did it, you didn't think of nothin' new You went out on me, so other girls did it too You can leave, little girl, I don't want you 'round no more If you come knockin', you won't get past my door... yeah! You got nothin' to hide and everybody knows it's true Too bad, little girl, it's all over for you... ha-ha-ha-ha..."

It's been over six months since this got posted but the video of this song still runs through my mind often. The band playing their hit song out on a pier during the summer of 1966. The first few seconds of the video remind me of the opening to the "Gilligan's Island" TV show for some reason.

But the thing that stuck in my mind most was that seagull that flew into the background at around the 1:22 mark of the video.

Of all the billions of seagulls that ever lived, this one seagull was fated to have a spot appearance in a legendary video. That seagull has been dead for decades now but I wonder why that seagull was in such a hurry on such a perfect summer day at the beach. Maybe it spotted a crab or a clam. We will never know. But it was absolutely perfect how that seagull flew in that particular spot at that particular point in time.

That seagull is famous. Even more famous than Jonathan Livingston Seagull, in my opinion.

I must say, this song still haunts me, over a year since the original post just over a year ago.

Haunts me in a good way.

I immediately downloaded the song on YouTube and it pops up on my iPod playlist every now and then. It's always a fun song to hear and takes me back to a time I was almost too young to remember - in 1966, I was still a year away from kindergarten.

I mean to bump this thread a week ago for this song came up on my car radio on a brutally cold and dark morning while I was on my way to the train station to catch a train to Manhattan.

It was a rather depressing morning for me as it was so cold and the wood in my home was groaning under the weight of snow and ice. I just wanted to stay in bed. But I dragged myself out of it and took a hot shower and prepared for work.

It seemed the winter would never end. Weeks of cold and snow. So...I'm driving to the station and dreading the long walk from the car to the train platform. It's pitch dark and not even a hint of sunrise. My car thermometer read -2 degrees and it was windy out there too. Those are the worst mornings.

That's when this song popped up on my random playlist. Suddenly I was thinking of Southern California, beaches, young exuberant men playing this music on a pier with blond haired girls clapping in the background. You just knew that after shooting the video, that they were going to crack some beers and have a party.

And the seagull! I pictured that sea gull flitting through the background of the video at the 1:22 mark. And the freedom! The freedom that sea gull and all those people on the pier must have felt at that point of time!

That video is quintessentially American.

The rest of my workday went much better after that.

Hey, they just played this song again on the "Underground Garage" station on Sirius/XM radio. It played around 7:30 ET.

Awesome to hear this song again. Still 77 degrees out here on my Connecticut deck and I can picture that crazy seagull darting by while some young kids from the 1960s played some rock and roll on a California pier back in 1966.

Almost 50 years ago! This song is timeless.

"Hey, they just played this song again on the "Underground Garage"...

Great, it is a classic that many remember but for some reason is little played.

That seagull was one of the moments you can't create,,,it just happens ...HA

The song came up on my iPod today. Here it is, October 1, and the weather has turned cold and nasty. But this was a three-minute trip back to summer. And I’m still thinking about that seagull. Ashes by now.

It happened again. I was listening to my Sirius/XM radio and this song came on. I think it was the Underground Garage station. Good song and spring is definitely in the air. This is a warm weather roll-your-windows-down kind of song.
