Maybe there should be a special wing at Cooperstown for HBP leaders. Hunt got dinged 50 times in 1971! Ouch!

Biggio was a solid player during a long career, but he wasn’t a dominant force. I likes Don Mattingly in much the same way, but I think he is also below the HOF bar.

Hawk is not an electronic media guy. He’s paid by the white sox to broadcast games. No way you could let a person paid by a team to vote, just for the reason you stated..

That said, there are plenty of baseball related guys who’d be better to vote than current baseball writers who aren’t employed by teams.

Certainly possible Biggio was a steroid guy. I don’t recall thinking that of him when he played but if we’ve learned anything, it’s that no one is above suspicion.

I've been following this pretty closely and there is a lot of talk about how times have changed and the right to vote ought to be expanded to TV and website analysts, maybe cut back on the number of writers or at least limit how many years they are allowed to cast ballots.

Right now its a lifetime gig and a lot of the writers are not doing their homework, and this is aside from the steroid issue.

The Biggio vote is the reason that people are starting to say there is a problem with the selection process.

The only reason he's not there yet is because he played for Houston.
