People starting off sentences with “So...” is getting old.

People starting off sentences with So... is getting old. Interesting, that is a speech habit I don't even notice. It is very common in the California dialect I grew up with, and I'm pretty sure it is common in Maryland where I now live, too. It also is not new.
Is the use of the word "so" to begin sentences not a feature of your dialect?

People starting off sentences with So... is getting old. I see it frequently on F.R., it means the poster is about to attribute something to you that you never said nor even implied.
People will infer what they will, no matter if it's true or not.
