I can remember back in 71-72, the oilers, supply ships and ammunition ships were all part of the regular navy. In Viet Nam we would unrep about once a week with an oiler and also a ammunition ship and about every two weeks for groceries with the supply ship. Every body from E-5 on down participated unless you were on watch.

Hated taking on ammo most as those 5” shells got awful heavy and was hot as hades on deck.
