It’s surprising they’re addressing this one so early. They crave Christie for the GOP nominee because he’s moderate, has skeletons to dig up in the summer of 2016, and would lose to Hillary.

I posted this exact view in another Christie Scandal thread. I anticipate that the MSM will start working soon to soften the blow in order to preserve him as their GOP nominee of choice.
I don't think so, on two levels. First, the MSM wants to have something, anything that deflects from Obamacare, Benghazi, and Iran. Second, Christie is not the MSM's opponent-of-choice. Instead, they want an opponent-of-choice that Hillary can be 100% certain to beat. In their minds, the club only has three members, in alphabetical order: Jeb "OH NO NOT ANOTHER" Bush, Ted "GREEN EGGS AND HAM" Cruz, and Rand "SON OF TINFOIL HAT" Paul.
P.S. Remember, this is in their minds; I think any of the three could beat Hillary with a well-run campaign. Moreover, while I would prefer Cruz to Paul, and greatly prefer either to Jeb, 16 years of an "Obammary" administration would be the end of the American Republic.
PP.S. Mark my words...when the MSM is done with Christie, their next target will be Marco Rubio: they're more afraid of him than they are of Christie, because he is good-looking, articulate, young, a minority--all the things that were said of Obama in 2007/8--and also, in their minds, the one Republican who can garner enough of the Latino vote to flip the election in purple states. Look for an attempt to take him down in the late summer, before the midterms heat up, and also as the problems with employer-sponsored health insurance begin to hit the fan.
