Five years ago, Saturday Night Live ran a sketch in which Will Forte expressed his undying love for college footballs Bowl Championship Series with a comic song. The point was, needless to say, not terribly subtle.
I love stepping in dog crap And I love it when children get sick I love paper cuts on my corneas And I love the BCS

Next year will they still have all the traditional major bowls AND the 4 team playoff...or will some of the bowls be the semifinal playoff?
There’s nothing wrong with the BCS that one more game wouldn’t fix.
The bowl games will still take place, but their status will rotate as to whether it will be part of the playoffs.
Right. Until the bitching from teams five and six and seven and...
thanks
This is what burns me up. At least the NFL has an objective method of seeding teams. We will soon discover how big of a joke these playoffs are.
It will be Notre Dame (which is not part of conference) plus three teams each year.
People will always complain but if you’re talking about who is entitled to a shot at #1 then teams that are 5th or 6th have little to complain about.
Most years teams 3 and 4 aren’t really entitled to a shot either. But for those rare occasions when there are multiple contenders this playoff will be good.
I have the same concern. That is why the BCS system with a 4 team playoff would be better than either the existing system or the new system.
I agree for the most part, but I certainly think it will expand out from four teams.
But the new playoff system rankings are entirely subjective, based solely on human whims.
This could get ugly.
Here os what will happen..
“dude, my team got hosed man.. It’s a conspiracy between, ESPN, ABC, FOX, NBC, CBS, CNN, SEC, The Federal Reserve Bank, the Bildabergers, Roger Ailes, Skull and Bones, the Koch Brothers, Microsoft, Apple, Verizon, AT&T, Sprint George Soros, the CIA, FBI, NSA, DHS and Telemundo, to only have teams from big conferences and winning records play.. man, this is totally bogus man, what a gyp...”
“At least the NFL has an objective method of seeding teams.”
Objective? Is that why an 11 - 5 team has to play an away game against a team that went 9 - 7?
In the NFL conferences should be realigned every year, top to bottom. That would be ‘objective’. ;-)
It is objective. You have to win your division. Both San Fran and New Orleans proved the better team won. Same thing in the AFC.
If you look at the NFL schedule, you play 10 teams in your conference. Plus you play 8 common games outside of your division.
It is easy to establish a set of objective playoff standards.
Leave the NFL conferences as they are. Divisions, on the other hand, could use some shaking up.
;’)
“Divisions, on the other hand, could use some shaking up.”
Yes, you are correct. I used the word ‘conferences’ when I meant ‘divisions’.
In 5 years, there will be 8 team playoffs; in 10 years 16; and by 2029, 32 teams will be in the brackets. We’ll have college football until Spring Training starts. Thank goodness this is amateur athletics and there’s no money involved. Could you imagine what might happen once the big money pours into college football?
Who really gives a crap? Isn’t it a little perverted that grown men take such am interest in what group of almost juvenile illiterate criminals is deemed no. 1 ? At least there was some charm in the old bowl system. Didn’t take itself too seriously ...
