Do you know what you are talking about? You ask this rhetorical question "Would he seek to overthrow an elected Iranian leader in 1953, only later to regret it?" McCain was born in 1936. That means in 1953 he would have been 17. I don't think 17 year old John McCain was setting US Foreign policy.
I'm not going to go into the whole history of Iran, lets just say there was a LOT more too it than the kindergarden version "overthrow and elected leader" rap. That's pure leftist spin, surprised to see it trotted out here on Free Republic without qualification.
The same might hold true for Pinochet, I think he was in the Vietnamese POW camp when a lot of those events went down.
I'm not a huge McCain fan, but lets not lower ourselves to leftist ranting and innuendo.
