Why do you have a spreadsheet for your Harley?

I keep track of gas and expenses.

It's interesting seeing the price over time. I've recorded every drop of gas I've put in it since I bought it. 21k miles and 540 gallons worth. :-)

It's funny, because I started working from home a few months ago, and you can see the usage plummet to almost nothing. I was filling up every 6 days or so, and it went to once a month.

do you use speech recognition often? It’s right at the top of the list.

That is because i recently tried to use it. I do typos with about every 4th word or so due to my fingers being stiff and lacking dexterity, making even signing my name legibly very hard, and thank God for auto marking of errors.

But this time i wanted to transcribe part of a Google book, so i tried the W/8 speech recognition, but it will not recognize any microphone (headset or webcam) when i try to use it. I have inboard audio.

So I sent away for one of those cheap USB sound card s, so i will see if it recognizes that and how it works. You can use FreeOCR to transcribe, but i just typed part of the book instead.

I have used Dragon 11.5 (hate the name) yet it leaves about as much to be desired as it is useful for.

There is much potential in speech recognition, but its ability to accurately understand words, even by a fairly articulate reader as myself. And it should be able to easily make custom commands, just like making keyboard shortcuts are, or reprogram default commands. Among other things.

But Dragon pretty much a monopoly in Windows and improves it a little more each time at about $100, and has been doing so for a long time, but it has a long way to go due to lack of real competition. Apple may be better. And Linux is seems to be at about a 1994 stage in this if at all.

But thank God for the great wealth of means to convey and hear truth. I have one of a $2.25 FM transmitters that broadcasts from my PC to a couple rooms, while with the free VLC player you can choose a different output (like the USB sound card) at the same time. We have been given much, and of much is required, of which i come short.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/take-screen-capture-print-screen#take-screen-capture-print-screen=windows-8

But i use the old free version of PrintKey 5.10: http://www.freewarebin.net/printkey-2000-5-10/

Better than newer ones i tried. Run it and look for it in your system tray (by clock). R. clk. and open it and choose your options (like the folder to save pics in, and default format) . If you just press Prt Scr on your key board when at your desktop then PrintKey should come up and you can save it. Or choose a hotkey (like Alt_Ctrl) in Options to Get rectangle and save. Then use the hotkey at you desktop, and drag a box around the area you want to save. Then upload.

Xnview is a good free image view, and with Shift + T you can add text to a picture. http://download.xnview.com/XnView-win.exe

That’s alot of programs.

They are there for a reason, though a few could be deleted, but lots of programs does not really affect performance as long as they are not running.

And as you can see in the Destop pic, my cpu cycles was 1% even with FF and about 100 tabs open, and OpenOffice and 10 docs. Ram was down to 2+gb free out of 8gb though, which i why 64bit is very helpful, as i used to try to do all this with 4gb ram and a Intel dual core 2.8ghz cpu and under a 32 bit mobo (2005 Sony PC), which can only use 3.5 gb ram. Had to restart FF often. But after about 7 years on that one the Lord provided the ministry with a custom built PC with a ASRock 970 EXTREME3 mobo; AMD 6350 3.9ghz 6 core 64bit cpu, and 8gb ram, extra cooling etc. For under 600.00 (with legal Windows 8 transfer) Praise the Lord.
