Former NFL quarterback Trent Dilfer, who starred at Fresno State and won a Super Bowl with the Baltimore Ravens, said Tim Tebow was one of the best quarterbacks in college football without even knowing how to throw a football properly.
Now, according to Dilfer, Tebow can throw the football like an NFL quarterback and deserves a shot on an NFL roster. He predicted that Tebow would eventually make an NFL roster again.
In a segment for ESPN, Dilfer said that Tebow wanted Dilfer to give him an objective evaluation. Dilfer went to USC's campus and profiled Tebow's intense devotion to bettering himself as a quarterback. Tebow spent 10 hours a day for six days a week training. And he did that for five months to make himself a better quarterback.

That doesn’t mean the washouts like Brady Quinn or jimmy Claussen are not included. The media has them in the HOF.
Other than the elite few(not mentioned above) Iwould rather have Tebow trying to win a game and not pad his stats. RG III has gone nowhere for his Millions. Matt Leinart never made it. Matt Barkley is toast. Vince Young was the second coming and couldn’t play on a Taxi Squad. Then you factor in their salaries and it is plain silly. Paying a washed up bum several million when Tebow would play for a minimum.
Cutler is average at best and signs a long term deal. Guarentees Bears will be out of the Playoffs for a long time. Maybe Rex Grossman can take them to the playoffs.
Yes, but all of those gentlemen had great success as coaches, so now we respect their opinions.
Trent Dilfer has had nothing but his mediocre NFL career. I’m just asking why his word convinces anyone of anything? Its like saying someone is going to win an election because Susan Estrich thinks they have great campaign skills, and she should know because she helped Mike Dukakis win the Democratic Nomination.
Yeah, but lets remember what Peyton Manning was when Denver got him. He was 36 or 37 years old, hadn’t played for anyone in a year due to major neck surgery that no one knew the effects of. It absolutely counts because even with those shaky odds that he’d ever be “Peyton Manning” again, Elway chose to go with the old injured chance guy rather than the young guy who had just won a playoff game.
Don’t quite get your point about Jeremy Lin, but He’s not exactly tearing up the league to the point that you can point to any team that passed on him and say “told you so”. He had the one good year in NYC, but even in that year he was only a 14 PPG player. Good but not fantastic.
All I’m saying is that everyone seems to want Tebow to be an NFL success, and he seems like a nice guy, but 3 NFL teams now have had a long, close look and decided “no thanks”. That means more to me than one ex NFL quarterback’s opinion of the guy working out, especially when that ex-NFL quarterback wasn’t all that great himself.
Manziel is going to get the same treatment. More for his negative behavoir, but think about this: Manziel goes to some place like Jacksonville, sits on the bench, Jacksonville loses a few games and the crowd starts to scream for Manziel.
A lot of folks would. I would be like many around here and actually go to another Jags game. The problem is for Tebow to be successful he would also need some other talent around him. The Jags don’t offer much. Jones-Drew is at then end of the line, Justin Blackmon likes his booze and drugs, Cecil Shorts is injury prone and Mercedes Lewis has hands of steel. Not to mention the fact the Jags allowed 41 sacks last year.
A lot of folks around here don’t agree with me but my view is Shad Kahn wants to move the team to London. I don’t see him investing the time and money to make Jacksonville a winner.

Learning to read and react to defenses while in the pocket can be learned.
What can't be learned is the ability to process the info in 2-3 seconds.
Some can, many can't. Its why a college QB can win the Heisman and get into the NFL and suck Balls. In College most of the high end QBs face at best two or three defenses in a season that have 3-4 players (or less) that would play first string in an NFL defense. Those players are very strong and most are Olympic Sprinter fast.
An NFL QB plays 16 games in a regular season and every game has a defense they are playing against in which 90% (or more) of them are strong and Olympic Sprinter fast! (Even the 350lb. lineman are freaky fast for 10 yards!)
2-3 seconds read and react time is crucial. And the list of the members of that particular club is very short.

You make some very good points.
The bottom line is, except for sending notes to the Jags re: urging them to beef up the skill positions on both sides of the ball and hiring Tebow, there is not much else we can do.
As for moving to Europe, they certainly filled the stadium on the first pass, didn’t they?
I don’t believe Shad Kahn is in this game to field a losing team, either on the field or at the bank! Within reason, Jacksonville needs to do what it can to keep the Jags here.
I find it interesting he owns the Fulham FC soccer team, he agreed to have the Jags play a game in London four consecutive seasons beginning last year and Roger Goodell has stated he eventually would like to establish a franchise there. And then again, it could be my tin foil hat is on too tight :-)

Agreed. However, the truth of the matter is Jacksonville is a college football town. If you asked the average football fan around here to choose between attending a Gator, Seminole or Bulldog game or a Jaguar game, the Jags would come in 2nd.

Well, you are right — college teams in the “Gator Bowl” (I’ve been in Jax too long to routinely call it Everbank Field!) usually fill it up, while Jags have a problem selling seats every year.
