Some idiot in my newspaper writes in to the pet advice column. Worried that their cats like to lay right up next to their very hot radiator.

Even when they try to block off access, the cats still find a way to get there.

must be a lib, trying to save an animal from its own need for warmth, not trusting it to know when it’s going to burn itself.

The vortex that is heading
To DC is sucking up cash
From our now-empty pockets
Then spewing it like trash

On the greedy unwashed masses
To spend on stuff they crave-
Smartphones and steak dinners
For which we others have to save

Obama’s purchased people have
No redeeming purpose at all-
Useful while he’s in office
Then put back in their stall...

According to the thermometer on the deck, it was 16 when I took Husky girl out at 6 AM, but since that thing has been around for 8 years, I’m not sure I trust the reading. The local weather station says it is 33 now, and I do believe that...

I think so, too-trying to save the pet from its own good sense-I’m using two of those little electric radiators for heat-my cats were keeping me-and them-warm by being cuddled up to me all night, but when I got up, all three went right to the radiator in the living area-the only pet who does not want to be close to a heat source is Husky girl, for obvious reasons...

i love having chan on my lap and jules pressed up against my side when i sit on the couch in the evening. or if i take a nap, jules is behind me with his face resting on mine and chan is draped over my side. we have a nice little dogpile nap! the only downside is if something caused Jules to bark, bc then i am dead asleep and have a loud bark right in my ear!

Come on, it was every mom’s preferred music back then. Along with Engelbert.

Yes, they become so accustomed to treating all humans as idiots that they forget that God gave animals the sense they need to survive!

Have you seen Chubbikins, gov of NJ, remonstrating with people to stay off the roads, to stay warm, etc. etc. I am not given to seeing nanny statism at every turn, but he sounds like a nagging yenta talking to children with his tweets.

No, haven’t seen him. They do like to, on the news, remind people to leave their faucets dripping. Which, I guess there might be some newcomer to this climate who doesn’t know, but anyone with any sense doesn’t need to be told.

well i didn’t know about dripping faucets until i saw it, but i guess what’s offensive is a govt official telling you the info. If its coming from the news or somewhere else it’s not as bad.

Perhaps they could 'spin' the slogan- "Embrace the Suck" for the Frigid Heiress' 2016 campaign?

Husky girl lies on one of her pet beds beside my recliner next to the window when I watch TV or read in the evening-Yeti boy crushes my feet with 22 pounds while Midget girl and Titus lie beside and on me. They growl at each other like bad kids if one so much as puts a paw into the other’s space, but when I go to bed, all three pile on me and each other and stay like that all night.

Just after dark yesterday, I’d dozed off over my book when a raccoon came to the window and looked in. The dog jumped up barking right next to me-considering my experiences with the surreal history of this place, my hand was already reaching for the shotgun when I saw the critter at the window-startled the hell out of me.

never experienced a busted pipe either. my dad built our house himself, doing all but the electrical wiring, so i think he knew how to insulate etc. and so maybe wasn’t worried about it? not sure, but i know it was never a concern growing up.

Heating oil was 15 cents a gallon back then. You probably had the thermostat set to 75. LOL
