I searched for "polar vortex" because I'd never heard the term. I found a Business Insider article saying they're somewhat similar to tornadoes but in the Arctic. As I read I wondered when they'd blame it all on global warming.

The very next paragraph said NOAA scientists say it's related to warming temperatures in the Arctic that can send these storms spinning off our way. But you had to read to the very last paragraph to learn that not all scientists think the current cold snap is caused by a polar vortex and that: "Many factors, including random chaos in the development of weather patterns, can produce such extreme winter events."

Talk about burying the lead!

A polar vortex is more like a hurricane than a tornado, it is very large, continent sized. It creates a barrier over the poles so that warmer air from the temperate regions does not mix with the air inside the vortex. This is why there are ozone holes over the poles, because ozone naturally breaks down when it absorbs ultraviolet light, or through chemical reactions in extreme cold, and over the poles in darkness there is nothing to create ozone, or allow tropic air with ozone to replentish the air inside the vortex.

Considering that this spring over the anrartic saw the coldest temperature ever recorded on Earth, I would think there will be news about a large ozone hole over Antartica this last spring(fall).

It’s just a huge dense cold high pressure system locked in place over eastern Canada and reinforced by the jet stream so it keeps spinning and sending cold air our way. Most Winters it kind of sits over Greenland farther East. All high and low pressure systems are types of vortexes. The Elites are just trying to sound all scary!
