As kids, we used to make “forts” of of ‘em in vacant lots, but the rains did more damage than the “enemy” did. LOL.

We used to make them out of wooden pallets at a nearby construction site. Those weren't very weather-proof...but still a lot of fun.

Back then in the 50s, as kids, any port in the storm worked for us. We were “creative” and could make a castle out of a 50lb bag of kitty litter. Heh.
