RE: I went to LaSalle myself. Old Taft Avenue boy, me.
My Engineering class thirty years ago was 80% Chinese.

Hey, I did not know you were ( how do they call it ) — a Pinoy...

Anyway, I was there doing business ( Integrated circuit testing ) with INTEL then.

The interesting thing about Amy Chua ( the subject of this thread ) is this -— her father, Leon Chua, a UC Berkeley professor, is famous in the world of Analog Chip design. He is recognized for his contributions to nonlinear circuit theory and Cellular neural network and being one of the early co-developers of SPICE (Simulation Program with Integrated Circuit Emphasis), a general-purpose, open source analog electronic circuit simulator.

It is a powerful program that is used in integrated circuit and board-level design to check the integrity of circuit designs and to predict circuit behavior.

The man graduated from the Philippine’s version of MIT ( Mapua Institute of Technology ).

The funny part about Mapua is that in Manila it’s considered rather a Diploma mill. The good schools are the University of the Philippines, the Jesuit Ateneo and LaSalle. Mr Chua overcame more handicaps than you know.
