If one does not hold the data, one does not own the data.

There are many industries where cloud computing is contemplated in the same stream of thought as seppuku.

computer program source code that will execute only under the management of a Common Language Runtime virtual machine. = the Great Controlling Unknown...

Odd choice of names, since there is a Midori browser for Linux.

I don’t understand this push to put everything in the cloud. It might make sense for some but a terabyte is relatively cheap and would cover most users for a lifetime. If you put it on the cloud you have no idea who might be rifling through it.

MS is in major trouble and a new OS isn’t going to make it better.
Rumors say there is going to be a shakeup at 2014 CES by companies tired of cleaning up MS messes.

This is like a Tire company re-inventing the wheel for each new tire they make....

Why not work to optimize the current code and maybe reduce it’s memory footprint, maybe code a few things in assembly....

If I have to learn a new operationg system, seems like Linux would be a better choice.

C# is managed type-safe code that precludes most of more serious problems that come with non-managed code. Java is also type-safe although not to the extent C# is.

Bottom line, any code, even managed type-safe code is only as safe as the knowledge and application development skills of the persons developing the code. This applies across the board to all languages.

This programming language, in turn, would be used to develop an operating system ... whose operations will not be similar to Windows in any way.

OK, I'll take a guess: it is either a ChiCom Linux variant because we have a contract still with them thanks to BJ clintoon and what he owes for his 'campaign contributions', or an Iranian or Saudi muzzie open-source OS because O'butt_ears still needs to bow to the saudi king a few more times before they will accept that we really do not mean to make them keep on thinking that the USA is better than anyone else in the world -because that would be racist!

IBM has been advertising “Watson” application to medical issues. It’s hard to imagine the limits of a tech which can memorize and retrieve germane portions of the whole of published knowledge.

It seems to me that there will be some truly amazing cell phone PDA’s coming out over the next decade - not to mention computerized chauffeurs built into automobiles.

My cousin who works there in Seattle informed me just yesterday that this project has a code name of “Blue Screen”, ‘Brabra Streisand’ among the engineers involved, or shortly ‘BS’ elsewhere within the company.

I will never keep my data in a “cloud.” I will never trust my data to anyone anywhere. It’s on my computer and backed up on an external hard drive. Nuff said!
