Just guessing, but perhaps the embalmer cleaned it up a bit.

Nickle plated, but you have to hope someone stripped it down and cleaned out the inner workings, other wise the thing could be welded shut inside. Blood be very corrosive.

Wife inherited a 1908 Colt .380 hammerless and I had to totally disassemble to degunk it. Guns that old that have been neglected can be ruined.
