The gubmint might TELL you they have pulled out of Iraq but do you REALLY know?
One thing for sure, Iraq will be going right back to Al Queda, city by city and those American warriors who have died trying to protect its people will have died for nothing. Much akin to all the recent wars we have had to fight. If we EVER go into another war, we MUST fight to win and not to “pamper”.
The problem is the we are “liberating” people who do not want to be liberated. We are defeating enemies that effectively give up and resort to guerrilla tactics. We are fighting an idea.
You cannot beat an idea with bullets. The idea gets stronger with every “freedom fighter” death.
This is not like beat Germany or Japan. We are not fighting a nation.
The best that we will be able to do is keep them at bay. Keep them suppressed. Until we finally go to war with the nation state that supports them. And that will only happen after they blow up Tel aviv.
There is something on the order of 15,000 private security contractors in Iraq protecting the US Embassy and the State Dept. staff, and other US interests. These are 1st tier spec. ops. operators down to third country nationals (often Kenyans) pulling security on checkpoints and infrastructure. The military in essence swapped places with this private army.
Other private contractors are also over there supplanting the military by performing all of the logistical functions necessary to support a contingent of this size. Things like water, sewer, fuel, mail, food, housing, power, transportation, travel, administration, medical, and maintenance services, etc. The embassy alone cost $500,000,000.
I believe there are also US military personnel and private contractors training the Iraqi military on the operation and maintenance of aircraft and armor. If all of this is happening, and it is, then our special forces are there as well. Does it take Edward Snowden to keep the masses informed as to what our government is doing?
If George Bush, more accurately if a Republican were president today, children in kindergarten would be taught these facts as part of their daily curriculum. Companies like KBR and Fluor are likely doing the logistics, or subordinate companies to them are, and companies like Triple Canopy and Cochise are likely doing the security, or subordinate companies to them are pulling security.
