All the self righteous arrogance in the world won’t be able to save Chicago from the freight train barreling down the tracks. Nearly 100 billion dollars in debt and the piper is sniffing around for payment.

I’m 100% rural but personally I’d prefer Detroit to virtually all other American cities for the personal freedoms alone. I can eat what I want, drink as big a soda as I want, smoke, drink and carry a gun, all in public. Even the state prohibitions against smoking in businesses are mostly ignored by all but the most upscale places. Its got a real Edgar Friendly attitude that conservatives love if they spend any real time there.

Its an interesting feeling to stand on the curb talking to a citizen with an AR-15 slung over his shoulder and know that the cops slowed down to check me out because I was the white guy rather than going into a panic over the gun.

My mother’s side of the family are all from Springfield and Lincoln Illinois area. My Mom’s cousin went to Chicago and was murdered shortly after he got there. It was long ago, but Mom’s family moved over here to Indy after that.

Not anywhere near the size of Chicago, but I still would rather not live in a big city. I love people but I don’t like being crammed in with people all around me. My dream is to get out of here and move to a rural area. We are here because my husband’s job is here. That is it.

I like a more remote lifestyle. If I want a dose of big city, I will go in and then get out. LOL

Last time I was in Chicago, we went to my son’s graduation at the naval station in north Chicago. We got stuck in a humongous snowstorm while there and it took 12 hours to get back into Northern Indiana. I thought I was going to lose it! Stuck in traffic, poor visibility. I needed a few extra blood pressure pills. I can’t stand being trapped.

My husband swore that he would never go there again. And we haven’t!
