A modern Detroit musical product. I like him better with The Raconteurs.

I saw them play at a little run-down bar in Denver, the late, great 15th Street Tavern. It was before they got famous so it must've been around 1999-2000 or so. There weren't but a few dozen people in the crowd. Jack and Meg were sitting at the bar, nursing beers, smoking cigarettes and chatting amicably with the regulars. Then they took to the stage. My first impression was "where's the bass player?" Turned out they didn't need one. They blew me away!

That was a great bar. Live rock 6-7 nights a week and no cover bands either. All original. Some like the Stripes went on to greatness. I saw Q.O.T.S.A. there supporting their first album. Unlike the White Stripes, they packed the place well beyond the 128 person fire marshall limit.

Sadly, the 15th Street Tavern is now closed down. Has been for a few years. Another nail in the coffin of live music.
