Jennifer Lawrence: 'It should be illegal to call somebody fat on TV'

"I think when it comes to media, the media needs to take responsibility for the effect it has on our younger generation on these girls that are watching these television shows and picking up how to talk and how to be cool," the "American Hustle" star added.

"So all of the sudden being funny is making fun of the girl that's wearing an ugly dress. And the word fat! I just think it should be illegal to call somebody fat on TV. I mean, if we're regulating cigarettes and sex and cuss words because of the effect it has on our younger generation, why aren't we regulating things like calling people fat?"

When Lawrence was first cast as Katniss, a starving teen fighting for her life in a government-arranged reality show, she was criticized for being too full-figured.

Ha! As attractive as this young woman is, there were several bikini photos of her sporting a significant amount of cellulite on here posterior and upper thighs. Truth hurts, and she simply didn’t appreciate that truth.

I wonder how many people here had their act together at her age.

When I was 19 I was repairing classified equipment for the USAF and raising 2 kids.

I had my act much more together then than I do now. Now, I don't wear pants much.

You weren’t on national TV.

This girl is one of the less screwed up hollyweird folks. Just don’t see a need to tear her down.

It also should be illegal to point out crappy haircuts, such as the one you are wearing. But it isn’t illegal——yet. Bob

Y'all need to be nice to Jennifer Lawrence. She's one of the good ones. Never forget her famous words, "Screw PETA!"

'It should be illegal to call somebody fat on TV'

Does she also think she should be able to sue a film producer if she loses a role because of her weight some day? She's in one of several professions where appearance and physical condition, including size, can mean success or failure.

With her attitude, she'll probably learn that lesson in the future, unless she decides to go for parts that call for, er, a fat woman.

I wonder how many people here had their act together at her age.

I wonder how many people here had enjoyed her level of success and fame at her age. Maybe such success at a young age carries an expectation of a little more maturity and understanding, or at least the common sense to know when to keep her mouth shut.

“Maybe such success at a young age carries an expectation of a little more maturity and understanding”

Sounds like it carries a load of jealousy with it.

Speak for yourself. She sounds like an ignoramus, or maybe she is one. Simple reality.
