Howard Cosell is without a doubt the greatest sportscaster in the history of broadcast television. Yes, he never played the game and yes, he had the dreaded law degree, but he was nevertheless the most intelligent broadcaster ever put into a booth at a U.S. sporting event.
His IQ was 178 which puts him well ahead of Stephen Hawkins and slightly below Albert Einstein and Leonardo Da Vinci.
One of the funniest things I ever saw Howard do (besides throwing up on Dandy Don’s boots) was his cameo in Woody Allen’s “Bananas”. He and Don Dunphy do the play by play on the annual assassination of a latin American dictator.
