She lives in a home weekdays and spends weekends with her father my MIL new boyfriend.

Severely afflicted.

If she is severely afflicted, I would lean toward something wonderfully tactile...such as a super soft throw, and pillow (which she can hold close....) THAT, and something to do with music...perhaps a lovely relaxing CD (AND CANDY!! :-)

Art supplies, so it won’t matter what age level she is at. A set of pastels and drawing paper or watercolors and paper.
