OK, you have to return to upside down side of today to get the gist of it then. Today it wouldn’t be PC, you would upset some minorities, they were singing Christmas carols as they were written. GIs back then were truly loved by ALL, not like today where everyone says they do but many do only because its politically vogue. If they did, where was their outrage when they kept the WW II Vets away from their memorial? I love these WW II tear jerkers, they are so home like for me, I was there as a kid. My parents open their door for the guys at the base in our town, They invited them home for dinners, and because I was a kid, the guys would give me all sorts of ribbons and badges. My parents bought me a Navy suit and an Army suit to wear in the 40’s. You would think with all the ribbons on my jacket I was in all the Theaters of operation. I was also given an Iron Cross.
