I kinda enjoyed this film. It is way better on XBMC in HD.

Thought I would share.

I caught it on TV (HD). Wasn’t expecting much and was stunned by some of the visuals. Really quite remarkable CGI — plus an engaging plot.

It must have been something on the big screen or IMAX!

I had never seen it before.

The beginning is a bit dull.

I thoroughly enjoyed "Life of Pi" as well. I'm really impressed at the leaps and bounds digital special effects have made these last few years, especially when viewed at home on a good blu-ray/HDTV home theater.

I don't see movies at the cinema much these days. I wait for them to hit Redbox and then I rent the blu-ray version. I have a decent set-up at home. I usually rent pretty much most of the big releases. Heck, last night my wife and I sat through "Elysium". Total left-wing pablum with a laughable script but, damn, the effects were pure eye-candy!

FWIW, "Man of Steel is the best film I've seen all year and I've never even been much of a Superman fan. Again, the digital effects were just phenomenal.

Notice that the actor Irfan Khan is also obsessed with “Richard Parker” in the Amazing Spider-man. What’s up with that?

I will say the scenes with Ifran Khan were boring.

It was Suraj Sharma that sold the movie.

I would agree...the first twenty minutes was hard to get into. By the end, I came to realize it was more of a story being told than a regular movie. We used to have a lot of these types in the 1930s and 1940s. It’s rare these days. I’d also put it into the philosophy category for future movie recommendations.

Ahh... I see... I'm still a PS3 guy. I can stream hi-def from Amazon Prime pretty good but on the PS3, blu-ray is still far superior. Then again, the PS3 is yesterday's technology.

FWIW, I visited the Samsung store at a mall in Bahrain a couple of weeks ago and saw the latest and greatest 85 inch "Ultra" HDTV. $40,000 but holy smokes! What a picture! I think I'm going to have to wait a few years though...

Movies you have to follow closely from beginning to end, and if you pay attention, you'll be rewarded.

They used real animals for some of the boating scenes.. A tiger nearly drowned as a result.

Gnight all.

And to you. I love movies. I know many here think Hollywood is the devil but I don't care. I love movies. And I love good special effects.

I think I'll crack another beer and go watch "Avatar" for the umpteenth time on my reasonably decent home theater.
