It is also about radiant.
The apparent point in the sky from which it comes.
The Canadian meteor radar tracks the incoming meteors, can also calculate the orbit and speed.
Neat stuff.

And where are the calculations that these are from Ison? The Earth gets many fireballs every day.

dirtboy, that's one of the better graphics I've seen lately answering your own question.
But BPERarthWatch also has a great explanation of it he did on Nov 24, 2013, at about 2 minutes 50 seconds into and to the end of his video titled:It might be worth your time to watch, as he explains HOW Ison's debris might enter Earth's Atmosphere and might even skip off of it.
