Class Action Filed Against Electronic Arts Over Battlefield 4

On Tuesday the law office of Robbins Geller Rudman & Dowd LLP submitted a class action lawsuit against Electronic Arts in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. The lawsuit is on behalf of Electronic Arts common shareholders who purchased the game publisher's stock between July 24, 2013 and December 4, 2013, aka the "Class Period."

According to the lawsuit, Electronic Arts allegedly issued "materially false" and "misleading" statements highlighting the purported strength of the company's rollout of Battlefield 4 this fall. Electronic Arts then issued strong fiscal 2014 financial guidance for the company, and increased that guidance on October 29. Thanks to these positive statements, stock steadily climbed to as much as $28.13 per share, allowing senior executives to sell their stock at artificially inflated prices.

For those interested in computer gaming and console gaming.

The pressure on EA over turning out buggy games seems to have reached a milestone. There has been a lot of complaining about how BF4 is nearly inoperable. Lot of bad reviews.

I personally don't like these shareholder class action lawsuits, but this may wake EA up and get their full attention.

If only we could file a class action against the government for “materially false” and “misleading” statements.

Too bad we can’t sue the federal gummint over Obamacare, it’d be an open-and-shut case and the biggest class action in history. And buggy or not, I’ll be this game works better.

The only person I know with BF4 loves it

I like it. Been a huge fan of the BF series. Much of the problems have been with their servers crashing. People playing an hour and a half with a lot of points and then the EA server crashes and they lose everything. (I know, first-world problems, right?)

Apparently the COD Ghost server goes down a lot too

Heck EA should have been class actioned for shifting from the Red Alert II platform to the Generals Platform when they ruined that series.

(just kidding but they really did screw up there)

There’s a reason EA won those two Golden Turd awards consecutively. They earned them.

I’m glad I didn’t pay retail for BF3, and didn’t pay for Premium. Now I know that whenever I get a PS4, I won’t get BF4 with it. It’s pretty much the same with Ubisoft for me. They just don’t make even decent games anymore.

Add in destroying the SimCity franchise.

One of my favorites. And yeah, they screwed that series up big time. They could’ve run that series for another decade but they chose to auger in.

The last SimCity was an utter disaster. I forgot about that.

The console version (not online) sucks. It was all story telling that you can’t skip and very little combat action. Took less than 4 hours in hardcore mode to complete and over half of that was the story telling.

What did they do to SimCity? Me and my dad used to play both 2000 and 3000.

Yeah, that would be horrible. I guess they focus so much on online gameplay they forget that a lot of people want real offline stuff too.

Speaking of Red Alert, I wish they never absorbed westwood studios. They ruin everything they buy. Now, with the BF franchise they can’t even keep up with their 2 year production cycle and want to force a yearly update like COD on their consumers.

Yep. The good old days with Maxis, Westwood and Mythic before they were destroyed by the Borg.

The population is represented by “agents” with less intelligence than Obama voters. They all drive to the same job, until it fills up, then they move to the next closest. Many of them never get to a job. Then, because they have similar issues going to a home (not the one they left that morning), they don’t shop and meet their needs. The village (they limited size so that their performance issues were hidden) crumbles. This is just the surface issues. The sims walking in circles between two bus stops, the conga lines of utility trucks, always on-line, and losing synch are enough to kill it. All you really do now is paint a city and hope it works.

My daughter (12 when she started, now 18) played bf2 and now 3. She was really good at 2...really good.

I enjoy playing 3, but I never did get 4 to work for me. I will probably play 3 as long as I can.

A friend is wanting me to switch from PC to xbox 360 and join him and a few others...not sure I want to spend much on old technology...nor the vid card I would need to play 4...

Yep, BF2 was my all-time favorite and then BF:Bad Company. BF3 was okay, and I am upgrading my system to handle BF4. We’ll see how that goes.

The whole Command & Conquer series was a blast as well, until EA ruined that as well.
