Regardless of circumstance I’m impressed at the stability of the car, largely factory spec, at 200 mph. I’ve taken cars to 140 mph before and it gets a little spooky, to be quite honest, minor imperfections in the pavement set the suspension off, I really don’t like any hint of instability at such speeds. So, this is impressive, as I mentioned.

Yes, aerodynamics is everything. Low ground clearance, fins, balance, smooth road. You want negative pressure under the car.

Immpressive for a non super car, but this is foolish driving outside a race track.

Never happen in a Stingray.

I had my brother’s Dodge Conquest at 142 once... and it felt like the front wheels were off the ground. Everything was floaty and surreal.

Scared me into obeying posted limits.

I rented a HERTZ Yellow and Black Corvette a few years ago after flying into Tampa. I had it up to 140 twice on I-75 south of Tampa and it was plenty fast. I had been about 125 (speedo only registered 120) in my 1975 Ranchero GT back when I was 17 and that didn’t phase me too much but the extra 20 MPH in the ‘Vette (sitting so low to the ground you feel as though you are going even faster), combined with rapidly catching up with traffic and not familiar with the types of cop cars and where they hide on I-75 got my heart racing pretty good. Had I been on my home turf I would have tried for a little more.

He was holding the nitrous switch in his left hand, that nitrous was what got him over 200.
