If you’re still using XP, it’s time to upgrade.

I doubt you can go straight from XP to 8.1. You'd probably have to go incrementally, from XP to 7, then 7 to 8, then you can go 8 to 8.1. I've done XP to 7, and XP to 2003 on servers. I also did NT to XP way back when (NT...shudder).
someone on Craigslist was advertising a laptop with a 40gb harddrive and 1GB of RAM as a Win 7 machine with MS Office and other stuff.
I don’t think Win 7 and Ms Office will fit in a 40GB hdd!
I just went from XP to 8.1 and everything is fine for me, I don’t know what the big deal was supposed to be.
I thought there would be all kinds of annoying differences, but I have my new computer looking pretty much like it always has.
