Why not just keep available paid support for their greatest-ever operating system? I have a workstation that runs day and night processing tens of thousands of automation operations on dozens of databases and websites. It runs XP and has not been rebooted or even touched in 6 years. Never once had a blue screen even before that.
Therein lies the problem. If it ain’t broke, we need to fix it. I still have one laptop that runs XP. Never had an issue with it. The other 2 are W7. Won’t do 8 or above if I can avoid it.
XP is sort of the small block Chevy of operating systems.
uh, if you have not updated that machine in 6 years and it is on the Internet, it is owned by a bot network and is doing a lot of processing for other people.
I had a client who shut down their servers for the first time in over five years due to electrical maintenance in the building. Once the old machines cooled off they were done. The hardware wouldn’t turn back on.
It’s called corporate greed...
Like government, they want more and more of your money.
