Peter O’Toole died yesterday, the day after my dad died, btw.
Lawrence of Arabia is a great film because there are zero female speaking parts, so it all makes sense.
Jack Hawkins is one of my favorite actors. I saw him last night in THE BLACK ROSE.
He was given the short shrift in ZULU.
I bet it is. I got the blu-ray for “It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World” and it looked so clean and new. Like something being videotaped in the next room.
Thank you!
timely
Indeed. I was initially going to post another film but then I saw the news story about O’Toole’s death and thought this would be the more appropriate selection for today’s feature. Plus, I just happened to pick Becket last week. Strange.
No prisoners!
Is the lionization of T.E. Lawrence deserved? Wasn’t he a Pan-Arabist anti-semite? It would be much better for the Western World if Turkey maintained control over the region and not Arab nationalists.
Fair question. I admire this film more for its cinematic qualities and achievements rather than its political perspective.
