If you can’t distinguish between big government statists, who also always seem to be for open borders/amnesty (e.g., all Bushes), and actual small-government conservatives, how are you one to comment on the cause at all?

Amazing - one person cherry picks my original statement because his feelings were hurt and others jump on from the cherry-picked bit. The meat of my originals statement was in response to another saying Walker wasn't really a small government guy (not something I disagree with). The article had nothing to do with that sort of politics and the statements by Walker, in the gist of the article, were valid, so I asked:

And that is relevant to the topic of the article in what way?

I get that many have found faults in all politicians, but I have trouble fathoming why the faults automatically trump any good/relevant opinions put out by these "flawed" politicians. Are you going to respond to the next Ted Cruz article with "He said nice stuff about Mandela"? Or the next one about Sarah Palin with "There wuz rumors that she was for amnesty"?The reason I said what I said is because there are those here who, having heard that a turd is a Tootsie Roll, will eat these "Tootsie Rolls" if a Walker tells them that it isn't a good idea because Walker has other areas where they absolutely disagree with him.

Hard to believe I have to go through this to make my point - just because someone has ideas that you find abhorrent, doesn't mean that they don't have something valuable to say on other topics. Do you now discount what he did against the unions? Is it now all BS because he believes in letting illegals crawl around like cockroaches (I hate the amnesty crap too)?

So, from my point of view - if YOU can't distinguish between the good and the bad that may come out of a mind, and are willing to discount all the good ideas because of a few bad ideas and consider a question such as mine as being "against the cause", who are you to comment about anyone else's comments? It reminds me of the "hate-the-Mormons-until-it-consumes-me" folks.

Walker’s playing the same game that Rubio is—and that the Bushes have always liked to play.

“Don’t look at my positions (e.g., amnesty, ever-larger government) that will end liberty and conservatism in this country, just focus on this one particular position that I think we can agree on!”

And that is how the GOP plays its part in killing the country. It is entirely relevant to this thread to point out that Walker is playing a shell game, trying to distract you from the deadly policies that he advocates and would enact.
