Not accurate.
Boeing left when Gary Locke (D-China) was governor. Paul Schell was mayor of Seattle.
You are right about Boeing’s reaction to Gregoire visiting the picket lines. She didn’t care. As long as she got re-elected, she really didn’t care about WA state.
Got to the governor’s office on the strength of suing the tobacco companies and winning.
Inslee was elected by the unions. Full stop. Now the only, the last, weapon available is moving the state to a RTW state.
The unions need to believe Inslee would do it for the threat to be credible.
At this point, Boeing is gone. It will take 10 to 15 years, but they are gone.
Boeing HAS to get out of the pension business, and the union doesn’t understand that.
The offer made was to keep current pay schedule, toss in ANOTHER $5000, but NEW WORKERS get the 401K.
Union leadership wouldn’t even take it to the members.
That’s the only thing I can see coming - the members demand a vote on the same basis they thought Boeing’s first offer was arrogant.
Leadership can’t assume members won’t go for it without a vote.
Maybe they should ask the Union Hostess employees what to to next. Oh wait, they went out of business and eventually re-opened as a non-union company.
