Yep... OU forced Switzer out because he went 8 and 4. Took about 15 years and 3 coaches go get “back”. OU had some other issues when they forced Switzer out... but be certain.. it was 8 and 4 that got him run off.

The same thing at Texas after Darrell Royal - we had a string of mediocre years and Fred Akers literally destroyed the program.

Mack rebuilt Texas football and I support him.

Hook em.

I attended Indiana University when Lee Corso was “coach.” We would have considered 8-4 to be a wildly successful season. Since then, only Bill Mallory ever came close to that mark.

But Corso was a hoot as a coach, especially his Sunday morning TV show. Once, after a late October upset of Michigan State, he popped out of a coffin and said “We’re not dead yet!” Another time, he had the “Senior of the week” on the show. The poor guy couldn’t spell “cat” if you spotted him the “c” and the “a.” He mumbled something about “playing really hard, coach,” and Corso threw his arm around the kid’s shoulders, looked at the camera and said “he’s a great kid! Somebody give this kid a job!”
